Accident Notification
Abstract
Currently (in South Africa) 7 million people belong to a medical aid. But what happens when you in an accident? You have some (primitive) innovative solutions out there, but for my solution I would use accident notification (similar to matrix) for vehicle identification, and a combination of biometrics and proximity devices for individual identification. This would allow the system to perform a few automated tasks. 1 – Notify your friends and family, 2 – Confirm you have medical aid and should be taken to a private hospital, 3 – Give the emergency staff and hospital staff vital information that could save your life. I did have a look into this but I could not get the capital to start the venture.
Medical Markup Language (MML)
Abstract
MML will provide a standard way of representing medical information. This will give a common understanding of the information required as well as a common way of representing that data. MML will need to consist of a number of standards to cater for all perspectives and industries that participate in the medical industry. An example would be that medical aid/insurance companies would need a standard way of representing their policies in xml, a standard representation of patient information will be needed, and so on. This would help in managing the data across the entire medical industry in a standard way and would lead to opportunities for new startups to create software compatiable with the standard for a wide range of clients. Clients could be hospitals who would get the standard patient xml representation and print out a check in form saving the patient and hospital the time of filling in forms and capturing forms respectively.
